Retail Visual Merchandiser
Almondsbury Garden Centre is a family run independent garden centre in Bristol that has been supporting the community for the past 93 years.
We are looking for an ambitious, self-motivated and experienced Visual Merchandiser to join our team. A love of everything gardening and a particular love of Christmas are desirable. You will be hands on and an effective team player.
As a visual merchandiser, you will be responsible for ensuring our centre looks immaculate and inspiring everyday. You'll need to:
- Use your creativity and awareness of trends to develop ways to promote our products
- Liaise with teams about buying, design and marketing to create design themes and plans, often months in advance, including window and in-store displays
- Meet with retail managers to implement store sales strategies
- Identify and source props, fabrics, hardware and lighting
- Maintain a budget and negotiate with suppliers of visual materials
- Work with architectural features of store to maximise the available space
- Create visual merchandising packs to communicate visual guidelines including layout principles, visual dressings and signage
- Assemble or dismantle visual displays in windows or in-store
- Seek feedback from colleagues and customers on the visual impact of displays and of the changes implemented.
- Support retail teams when needed.
Skills and Experience:
• Previous experience of being in visual merchandising role
• Proven record of utilising merchandising to drive sales
• Knowledge of visual merchandising principles
• Ability to develop merchandising skillset through coaching within our estate
• Able to build and maintain excellent relationships with colleagues in different areas of the business as you will be working with a multi-functional team
• Ability to adapt your communication style to work with colleagues of varying levels of merchandising abilities
• Able to manage multiple projects at one time
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Able to manage diary and changing priorities

Marketing Assistant (3 days a week)
About the role
We’re looking for a highly organised and proactive Marketing Assistant to support our Marketing Manager 3 days a week.
This is a varied role where your primary focus will be marketing administration keeping all projects running smoothly behind the scenes and social media management. You’ll support with online and offline marketing activities including creating marketing collateral, working with external supplies for campaign materials, email marketing, community management, website maintenance and social media management.
The ideal candidate will be confident in front of the camera, a keen social media user with good knowledge of current trends, proactive and able to juggle multiple priorities with ease. This is a part-time, on-site role, with occasional weekend work required during events and seasonal campaigns.
What We’re Looking For
Ideally, you’ll bring some of the following experience, skills and qualities:
Essential
- Strong organisational and administrative skills with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage your own workload
- A positive, flexible attitude and willingness to get involved wherever needed
- Experience in content creation, video editing or social media management
- Comfortable being in front of a camera for social media content
- Excellent communication skills, comfortable liaising with suppliers, colleagues and external partners
Desirable
- An interest in gardening, interiors, home or lifestyle content
- Experience running or planning events
- Experience in SEO or basic knowledge
- Experience using design tools such as Canva, Photoshop or similar
- Familiarity with Shopify or other e-commerce platforms
Key Responsibilities
Working closely with the Marketing Manager, you will play a key role in supporting the delivery of effective campaigns including but not limited to the below.
- Manage the marketing inbox, ensuring queries and tasks are actioned promptly
- Liaise with suppliers, printers and external partners to ensure projects run smoothly and on schedule
- Support day-to-day marketing operations to keep projects on track
- Coordinate the production of in-store signage, menus and POS materials
- Work with external designers, printers and suppliers on print and offline campaigns
- Assist with website updates, content management and product uploads
- Create and schedule email campaigns
- Support with influencer outreach & PR campaigns
- Support planning, creation and scheduling of content across Instagram, Facebook and TikTok
- Engage with and grow social media communities
- Film and edit short-form video content
- Support the planning, promotion and delivery of events, including on-the-day logistics
